About the Project
Building Capacity for Biodiversity-Positive Agriculture
Agriculture and biodiversity are closely interconnected. Strengthening biodiversity-positive agricultural practices requires not only appropriate technologies and schemes, but also capable extension institutions and well-trained field officials who can translate policies and programmes into practical action.
This project focuses on strengthening the capacity of agricultural extension officials in Telangana to understand, promote and implement biodiversity-positive approaches through government schemes, planning, budgeting, monitoring and field-level interventions.
AgHub’s approach combines evidence-based training, stakeholder consultation, field exposure, mentoring and institutionalization to ensure that learning moves beyond the classroom and translates into practical action at the district and field levels.
Project Objectives
01 — Strengthen Knowledge
Enhance the understanding of extension officials on biodiversity, biodiversity-positive agriculture and relevant government schemes.
02 — Build Implementation Capacity
Develop practical skills for integrating biodiversity considerations into agricultural planning, budgeting, implementation and monitoring.
03 — Connect Knowledge with Practice
Use field exposure and best-practice demonstrations to help officials understand real-world biodiversity-positive interventions.
04 — Promote Institutional Learning
Create mechanisms for peer learning, mentoring and knowledge sharing among participating officials.
05 — Support Sustainable Scaling
Develop district-level action planning and identify opportunities for institutionalization and scaling of successful approaches.
