Training Women Farmer Entrepreneur

Various capacity building programs are conducted for the farmers and rural stakeholders to help them address pertinent issues that stand as roadblocks to progress. As part of the capacity building programs, rural stakeholders including women, youth and farmers are trained in aspects that are contemporary and relevant to building a vibrant and developing rural ecosystem.

2. Training Update AgHub _ Vijay

GIZ, through its Green Innovation Centre (GIC) and APMAS are working on improving the Tomato Value Chain through FPOs in eight Mandals of Chittoor District around Madanapalle region for the promotion of innovative production practices to reduce cost of cultivation, further enhancing productivity. As part of the venture, the team worked closely with Ms. Krishna Radha, a woman farmer in Madanapalle, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh. In view of her efforts, dedication and remarkable work in serving the farming community

Ms. Krishna Radha, Chairperson of M-Tomato federation was conferred with the ‘Woman Game Changers Award’ by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) for which she will be supported in aspects like capacity building, entrepreneurship, etc. AgHub at PJTAU was approached by APMAS and GIC[1]GIZ to impart suitable training to Ms. Krishna Radha for establishing her own business, and also providing market links in the due process.

Outcomes of the Training

Sensitized the trainee towards opportunities for livelihood enhancement in farm and non-farm sectors.
Developed workable protocols of practice and skill sets for the trainee.
Trained the woman farmer entrepreneur in positioning into a sustainable go-to- market phase.
Helped Ms. Krishna Radha inculcate entrepreneurial abilities to set-up a new enterprise for livelihood.
Supported the woman farmer entrepreneur in acquiring a few soft skills and technical skills.
Helped Ms. Radha with a few industry connections to finalize her idea as part of the idea validation process.

Gave Ms. Krishna Radha a basic understanding of the records, finance and bookkeeping procedures of an enterprise.
Helped her understand the various schemes pertaining to enterprise building, especially as a woman entrepreneur into the agribusiness space.
The interaction with other successful entrepreneurs and FPOs broaden her horizon and instilled confidence in her to kick start her entrepreneurial journey.
Helped her efficiently understand the functioning of enterprises at the grassroots level.
Assured the trainee of nurturing and supporting her in future enterprise-related endeavors
